FEAR FACTOR

 February ~ 2007

Some say, “There is nothing to fear but fear itself.”  There really is nothing to fear other than God. The Bible defines fear in two ways, fear caused by lack of trust in the Lord and fear caused by reverence or awe of God and our need to be obedient.

We can find many things to be fearful about.  We are afraid of being diagnosed with a disease that will change our life. Fear of losing a child, our mate, our job, our money, our home, and our independence.

Fear provokes thoughts of agony, panic or uneasiness, but the Bible is quick to reassure us that this kind of fear is completely unnecessary.  God constantly reminds us: “Don’t be afraid because the Lord your God is with you!

John 14:27 “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.”  God offer’s peace in the midst of the storm, because of His great love for us. We don’t have to be afraid of the present or the future. Reading the newspaper or watching the news on TV can instill fear in the heart of anyone, but we can know that God is ultimately in control of the world we live in.

Because God loves us we can trust Him to take care of us and those we love. Gods love is unfailing and everlasting. His word tells us in Romans 8:35 "Who then can separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble do it, or hardship or persecution or hunger or poverty or danger or death? Vs 37: No, in all these things we have complete victory through Him who loved us!"

Love is a beautiful thing. Share some love with those around you, comfort those who are walking in fear and give them the good news that Jesus Christ offers a peace that passes all understanding!

 Because HE lives!
