June is the
official beginning of summer, although our temperatures here in Ohio
have been quite warm already. I always think of the song “Summer
Time” when the livin’ is easy, fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is
high! I know most of my summers have been focused on Lake Vacations
and baseball games in the past.
Summer is really a time to relax, slow down and find time to renew
and refresh your walk with God. I love to meditate on Romans 12:2
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world – but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to
test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect
will.
Since
our routine changes in the summer, this is a good time to stop and
take notice of where our priorities have been. Our world is so
caught up in living to please ourselves. If we want to live in the
center of God’s will, we need to be willing to deny ourselves and
focus more on God’s will instead of our own. We are gradually being
pressed into the world’s mold and don’t even realize that it is
happening! We need to let God renew and remold our minds from
within! In order to do that; carve out some extra time with God.
The
secret to living a life that is pleasing to God is to discover God’s
will for you and then do it. Take time to connect with Him and seek
His over all will for your life, his good, pleasing and perfect
will. What could possibly be more rewarding! Let’s pray for each
other to seek him each day and find the renewal we all need.
